Quechua or Runasimi, that is, the language of men. Because of the number of Quechua speakers, it is the most important indigenous language in the Americas. It is currently spoken in territories of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile and the total of its speakers adds, according to some estimates, 10 million. The largest number of speakers is found in the three central Andean countries: Ecuador (at least 2,200,000 speakers), Peru (4,400,000) and Bolivia (1,500,000).
